Behind the Sweat | Kelsey Sheahan

MEET KELSEY.

We're lucky to know a lot of inspiring badass women in the fitness industry and  we're pretty lucky to have one of the best around - Kelsey Sheahan - as an OXB Ambassador. A former professional dancer, NFL cheerleader, and iFit/Norditrack trainer, Kelsey is now a personal trainer and owns Sweat Den in Denver, through which she motivates and helps women to build lean muscle, burn fat, increase increase strength and endurance, all the while building confidence.

Keep reading below to learn more about Kelsey, her important work, and the change she's inspiring below:

WHAT IS YOUR 'DAY JOB'?

I am a “positive vibes, inner-confidence, self-empowerment, high-energy, gratitude dealer” aka a personal trainer.

WHAT DOES A DAY IN YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE?

I “pop-up” every morning at 5:15 a.m. (okay....some days I’ll sleep in until 6:30 a.m.ish). The universe blessed me with a new puppy (Bodhi) back in September, so I find myself waking up earlier and earlier just so I can have some time to myself, lol.

I start each day with 32 oz of warm lemon water and a cup (or two) of Huckleberry Coffee (the Phantom Limb blend is the best) with my Chemex, which is the cleanest cup of coffee you’ll ever make. I started journaling and reading The Daily Stoic every morning a little over a year ago, and it has seriously been a game changer for my mental health. I like to set the mood by burning sage and palo santo along with my favorite candle from CB2, 'Good Medicine in Rose Otto'. I then take the Bodhi bear for a walk and I am finally ready to start my day.

I usually have a handful of personal training clients, or I’m doing LIVE workouts or programming for Sweat Den On-Demand. I try to finish each day with a sauna and if my husband can convince me, a cold plunge. We bought an outdoor barrel sauna during quarantine and it has been the best purchase we have ever made.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT TO DATE?

Launching Sweat Den On-Demand. This has been such a HUGE undertaking and has forced me so far out of my comfort zone thus allowing me to grow SO freaking much. It has given me an opportunity to show up in such a big way and has allowed me to work with women all over the world.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO SWEAT?

Anything in the Sweat Den or from Sweat Den On-Demand. Over the past year, I have done ONE workout outside of the Sweat Den, truly. Other than that, every single workout I do is in the Sweat Den. From our Sweat Den On-Demand workouts, I love our 'Strength, Sweat' (it’s unreal how much I sweat) and 'Sculpt' (slow burn = slow death) workouts the most - well, that’s basically all of our formats so I guess I love them all, lol.

WHAT ARE YOUR PREFERRED WORKOUT CLOTHING BRANDS?

I am addicted to all things Alo. I also love P.E. Nation, Adam Selman, and I am a forever Nike girl.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PRE- AND POST-WORKOUT SNACKS?

I don’t really like to eat much before I workout, but I’m obsessed with the RX Nut Butter vanilla Almond Butter. My favorite post workout meal is my “K’s Superfood Smoothie” which has basically everything but the kitchen sink in it.

HOW DO YOU SHOW YOURSELF SELF CARE?

I LOVE TO WALK! Whenever I am feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or am having a hard time staying positive, I get out and m-o-v-e. Most of the time, I won’t even listen to music but if I do, I will throw on Mike Stud's the highs. album (insert fire emoji). I think walking is so underrated/undervalued and can be a HUGE game changer for both mental and physical health.

WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO?

OOOOOOOOweeeeeee I have some REALLY exciting things coming up in the next couple of months. My husband and I are planning an IRL Sweat Den event for the end of December (you’re all invited), I have an exciting launch with Women’s Health magazine dropping in January, a bunch of exciting things happening with iFit starting in the New Year, and our biggest Sweat Den Grit Challenge, launching at the end of February.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE OXB PIECE TO SWEAT IN?

Here are all of the OXB pieces that I NEVER take off:

WHAT'S NEXT - AND HOW CAN THE OXB COMMUNITY HELP SUPPORT YOU?

I would be so honored for the OXB community to join the Sweat Den Fam. All I have ever wanted is to just be surrounded by good, kind, positive people and believe that the OXB community is JUST that.

WHAT'S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS (BIG OR SMALL!) YOU'VE LEARNED FROM PLAYING SPORTS, BEING A PART OF A TEAM, OR YOUR OWN PERSONAL FITNESS JOURNEY?

Find your path. ⁣⁣
Blinders up. ⁣⁣
Keep your head down.
Put in the work.
Find joy in what you do. ⁣⁣
Be kind and try to make a difference.
Keep putting in the work. ⁣⁣
Stay your path. ⁣⁣

    Kelsey,
We just got the Proform T7 with the ifit and just started your outdoor workout which are awesome. We are in our 50s and want to stay “tuned” with our body and your workouts just “fit” us. I am also a proud Denver Bronco fan since 4th grade so just a few more years on you ha ha. Thanks for your motivation and how you keep the work out fun and lively. What is your favorite saying you use in your work out video?

    Thanks
    Gary Wockenfuss
